Hostel bedeutet Studantenheim. Sehr viele Studenten und Jugendlichen erheben keine Ansprüche auf Luxus, sie wollen die Welt ansehen und sich zeigen. Aber hier taucht die erste Frage auf, wo man über Nacht zu ermäßigten Preisen bleiben kann. Seit vielen Jahren existiert Internationale Hostelorganisation, die billige Wohnung für Wanderer aus ganzer Welt zuweist, aber nur bei Vorhandensein von Hostelkarte oder von Jugenduniversitätskarte. Diese Karten kann man bei der Universität bestellen.
In der Ukraine existiert Ukrainische Jugendliche Hostelorganisation seit dem Jahr 2003.
Man kann ein Zimmer in einer der Herbergen in Kiev mit Hilfe der Seite von Organisation belegen. Wohnungspreise bewegen sich zwischen 80 – 180 Hrivnas ($ 16 - 35).
