Born in Odesa, artist Valentin Hrushch (1943-2005) first displayed his paintings at the age of 14. However, his first personal professional exhibition took place when he was 41 – at Hudok newspaper newsroom in Moscow. Hrushch liked to combine various styles and artistic trends in his paintings as well as interpret old masters. He also created small sculptures and took numerous photographs. However, he never bothered to print his creations, and the first exhibition of his photographs was made possibly because his student in Odesa printed some photos from the surviving film in 2000. In Kyiv, we can enjoy an exhibition of 76 of his paintings that were borrowed for the show from private collections.
