In Kiev zoo born Przewalski horse
10.08.2010 In the metropolitan zoo baby boom continues. The couple Przewalski horse - Kurt and Tola, incidentally, also natives of the Kiev zoo, was born foal. Newborn named Katana. Such an unusual name zoo staff were selected specifically for it to be in tune with the names of parents. Now baby be in the aviary with adults and can already see the visitors.

Przewalski's Horse was opened in 1879, Nikolai Mikhailovich Przhevalsky in Central Asia, in the vicinity of Lop Nor. On the domestic horse it differs short standing mane, a larger head, long and warm fur, a tail covered with long hair only on the bottom half, no bangs.

In the world there are now about a thousand individuals and the whole population is derived from several animals caught in the early XX century in Dzhungaria. The descendants of those horses for many generations bred in captivity in zoos and nature reserves in the world.

In the capital's zoo, five Przewalski horse. In captivity they are fed hay, grass, oats. But especially Kiev horses love carrots and apples

Since the beginning of the year in the Kiev zoo cubs already appeared in kangaroos and porcupines, owls, Tyto, Grant zebra, bison, llamas, baboon, Anubis.
